Born and Raised: Fort Smith NT

Education/Training

B Sc. In Natural Resource Management from the University of Northern British Columbia

History in the industry and as a WCW member

I have been working for the water and sanitation group since 2005

Typical day

Reviewing water sample results, getting phone calls from operators from different communities with various issues in the water plant or logistical help with their system.  And also constantly planning for circuit rider visits to my communities.

Job Satisfaction

As someone who grew up in the NWT the opportunity to travel to all the small communities throughout the north is a luxury that most people don’t get.  Being able to maintain working relationships with the local operators is great.

Main Challenges

Operator turnover, logistical issues, and cold weather issues.

Advice

Just keep at it, not every day will be glamorous but it all pays off in the end.

Time away from work

Spending time with my family as well as playing hockey, rugby and bass guitar.
