History in the industry and as a WCW member

Elected to the AWWOA Executive board in 2005 and have served terms as Chair in 2009 and 2015

Served two terms on the AB Environment Certification Committee

Committee member of the WCW Provincial Council

Member of the AWWOA for 19 years

Typical day

I’m not sure if there is a typical day in this role. They usually start the same with a team meeting and coordination of the daily tasks including ongoing projects. With the diversity of our scope of work the day can take off in a number of directions.

Job Satisfaction

The people I work with are fantastic. I love the diversity of my position and the never ending learning.

Main challenges

The main challenges are dealing with the always increasing workload and constantly changing circumstances. The newest and most frustrating challenge has been dealing with the misuse of social media.

Career Highlights

Awarded the AWWOA Ron Bayne Service award in 2012. Traveled to Kenya, Africa in 2010 to visit the Water School Projects that the AWWOA had funded through charitable donations.

So many of my colleagues have been great mentors, specifically, I would mention Norm Grexton, former NAIT instructor who I still call on for advice and wisdom and also Andy Bebbington for his encouragement to get involved with the AWWOA and WCW.

Take pride in your work and never stop learning. Enjoy the people you work with; they can be your best support, a great source of education, a shoulder to lean on and hopefully good for a few laughs.

Time away from work

I enjoy spending time at my cabin at the lake, golfing, hiking, curling and traveling.
