Who are your mentors?

Mentors in my career include Murray Fortune from the MB Water Services Board (retired).

What advice can you provide on having a successful career?

Don’t let everything overwhelm you. I always tell someone I’m training to try to learn one new thing per day, things will add up. If there is something you don’t know, then pick up the phone and call someone. There are lots of people out there that are willing to help.

How do you spend your time away from work?

In the past I used to curl, hunt and play ball, now, I like to travel and help out on committees (meetings).

Garry often is seen at MWWA conferences moderating training sessions, and he has been an MWWA member for 14 years. As of the February, 2013 Conference, Garry now sits on the Board of Directors of the MWWA.

When time does not permit for these activities, I like to unwind with a glass of my favourite scotch (Balvenie Doublewood).
